Changed World

“The overall private experience that you perceive forms your world, period.  But which world do you inhabit?  For if you altered your beliefs and therefore your private sensations of reality, then that world, seemingly the only one, would also change.  You do go through transformations of beliefs all the time, and your perceptions of the world is different.  You seem to be, no longer, the person that you were.  You are quite correct—you are not the person that you were, and your world has changed, and not just symbolically.”  The Nature of Personal Reality (a Seth Book), by Jane Roberts

          There is depth in what Jane Roberts’ Seth is saying in this passage.  Basically, Seth’s well-known dictum, “You create your own reality,” is echoed in what is here said.  When our beliefs change, we change, and when we change, we transform the world in which we live.  Mass beliefs create the outer world, but we have large sway there.  And likewise in our little worlds, the familiar surroundings of our daily living.

          If we want a change through the law of attraction, we must believe that change is possible.  This belief will accelerate the change, indeed make it possible.

Self-Hypnosis

“For five or ten minutes a day at the most, then, use natural hypnosis as a method of accepting desired new beliefs.  During that period concentrate your attention as vividly as possible upon one simple statement.  Repeat it over and over while focusing upon it for this time.  Try to feel the statement in whatever way is possible—that is, do not allow distractions, but if your mind insists upon running about then channel its images in line with your declaration.”  The Nature of Personal Reality (a Seth Book), by Jane Roberts

Seth is here emphasizing a potent form of affirmation.  In this passage he also recommends that one do this exercise for 30 days, even if it seems to be working well.  Seth believes that hypnosis is active all the time for us, that we are hallucinating the world in which we find ourselves.

I sometimes have difficulty sleeping, and I have been trying, for a number of days, the affirmation, “I sleep smoothly, easily, and peacefully all through the night.”  I can attest to a considerable improvement.  I still wake up several times a night, but I say the affirmation then, and also say, “I am getting very, very sleepy.”  This lulls me to sleep.

I recommend Seth’s proscription.  Certainly there is no harm in trying.  It follows along with the law of attraction, in that what we focus on tends to come true.

Avoid Saying, “What Is Wrong?”

“Individuals can go from psychologist to psychologist, from self-therapy to self-therapy, always with the same question: ‘What is wrong?’  The question itself becomes a format through which experience is seen, and itself represents one of the main reasons for all limitations, physical, psychic or spiritual. . . .

“At one point or another the individual ceased concentrating upon what was right in certain personal areas, and began to focus upon and magnify specific ‘lacks.’  With all good intentions, then, various solutions are looked for, but all based upon the premise that something is wrong.

“If such a practice is continued, the concentration upon negatives can gradually bleed out into other previously unblemished areas of experience.”  The Nature of Personal Reality (a Seth Book), by Jane Roberts

Psychotherapy is flawed, as many of us know.  The focus on what is wrong accentuates what is wrong in our minds, and thereby spreads it forward into the present and then the future.  It also bleeds, as we read here, into previously good areas of our lives, turning even good things into worse experiences.

We need to get the question, “What is wrong?,” out of our minds.  This is focusing on the negative, and what we focus on materializes.  Focus is everything.  When we reframe the problem area into positive words, we are heading into the right track.  We are remembering that positive attracts positive, just as negative attracts more negative.

We ought to remember in our day-to-day round what has gone right in our lives.  This will, in an almost magical way, bleed into the things in our lives that are brining us dissatisfaction.  But this bleeding is in the right direction.  We will replace what we have lamented with the happier state of what we really want to be actualized.

Karma

“Karma can be transcended by translating it into something else.  Karma can become the fulfillment of your purpose, your very way to extend and teach only Love.  For when you see that the effects, called your life, are the result of limited, fearful, negative thoughts or beliefs you have held about yourself and about the world, you can embrace the effects you have created and see them in a new light:

“I choose to allow these very conditions to be those conditions under which I now learn to choose Love.

“What can I appreciate in this moment?

“What can I give forgiveness unto?

“Where can I overcome fear of speaking out and share a truth with a friend?

“What have I been avoiding that I can now embrace?”  “The Way of Knowing,” in Way of Mastery

This is a spiritual way of saying that we create our own reality.  This idea was popularized in New Age circles years ago by Jane Roberts’ Seth.  The law of attraction as described by Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret (and other books by her) has added to the number who believe that, indeed, we do create our own reality.

Creating our own reality in the way of attraction seems a more secular way to pray.  Whatever we focus upon becomes true.  You may have known friends (or maybe, yourself), who had a run of bad luck, with one thing after another, in a short period if time, going very wrong.  This is a good example of an insufficient approach toward positivity.  When we begin thinking very negatively, we can influence our future in quite contrary ways.

Rhonda makes the point that love must come first (in The Power).  This gives a more religious take, for those of us attuned to spirituality.  Our love for ourselves and others, and our love for our Maker, change the outer manifestations in our lives.  We are no longer putting fear first.  And the resultant positivity is bound to influence even more secular matters in a kindly fashion.

Love unconditionally, and karma is even blunted.  If we can make bad things go away, have we not learned an important concept about ultimate reality?
